Toine Klaassen (b. 1973 Eindhoven, The Netherlands) lives and works in Rotterdam.
Graduated from Rietveld Artacademy, Amsterdam (1995-2000), Klaassen's daily research of 'archaeology of the nowadays' has been part of several exhibtiions, including Immortality Bar at Stadsgalerij Museum for Contemporary Art Heerlen (2005); web-based project: Six Films on BasementArtProject.com (2006); artist residency project, Fatamorgana at Unit 1's shipping containers in Alkmaar, the Netherlands (2006) and an experimental laboratory "1 twinkling of the eye" at Sense and Sensitivity in Tent, Center for Visual Arts Rotterdam (2006/2007) and Satellite Works, La Centrale, Montreal and Galerie L'Oeil de Poisson, Quebec City (2007). His recent projects include eye of citizens and neighbourhood investigations at New Life and the Dream Garden, Fieldgate Gallery, London (2007); "Dutch Performance Week" in Museum for Contemporary Art Rijeka Croatia (2007); investigations around the theme of heroism and interaction with the audience at "Heroes", Gil & Moti Home Gallery, Rotterdam (2007). He is currently working on the project, "Personal Ground", which is based on 20 Amsterdam-based people's experimentation with the space, Reservaat Amsterdam (2008).
